FABRIKASI MATERIAL NANOKRISTAL SiC SEBAGAI KATALIS PADA MATERIAL PENYIMPAN HIDROGEN

Abstract


The catalyst of nanocrystal-structured is needed to be inserted on material on storage system of solid hydrogen Mg-based. One of the catalysts is silicon carbide (SiC). We, here, reported the preparation and characterization of material structure SiC which was done by mechanical alloying technique. The XRD and SEM analysis showed that the milling process for 80 hours, the material was able to be reduce into nanocrystal scale. This was shown by the peak profiles of X-ray diffraction which was extremely broadened (peak broadening). This peak broadening indicated that the size of crystal was in nanometer scale. The result showed that the mechanical alloying technique was very attractive and promising in the preparation of material nanocrystalline scaled, especially for material catalyst for hydrogen storage.
