PENENTUAN KADAR Ca DAN Mg PADA HASIL DEMINERALISASI OPTIMUM KULIT UDANG WINDU (Penaeus monodon) SECARA GRAVIMETRI DAN SPEKTROSKOPI SERAPAN ATOM

Abstract


This research was carried out to investigate the influence of acid, both type and concentration, soaking temperature on the extraction of Ca and Mg from shrimp (penaeus monodon) shell.  The amount of Ca and Mg was determined using gravimetric and atomic absorbtion spectroscopic methods.  For extraction of Ca and Mg, the sample was soaked in solution of different acids at different concentrations and different extraction temperatures.  The best result was obtained with the application of HCl with the concentration of 2 N, and extraction temperature of 270C, and contains 23.47 gram/L Ca and  1.52 gram/L Mg.  This method produced 53.4% raw chitin contained in the filtrate, which is 62.5% of the extracting solution used.  The two elements were crystallized with addition of  mixture of (NH42C2O4 and Na2HPO4 to produce solid CaC2O4 dengan kemurnian 85,7% dan MgNH4PO4 with the same purity of 85.7%.  Other elements detected in CaC2O4 are Mg (3.91%), Zn (1.12%), K (0,32%) and  Cu (4.9x10-4%), while other elements detected in MgNH4PO4 are K (12.2%), Zn (1.67%), Cu (0.32%), and Ca (0.044%).
