PENGOLAHAN LIMBAH CAIR INDUSTRI KECAP DENGAN METODE ELEKTROKOAGULASI

Abstract


This research was carried out to study the electrocoagulation treatment of waste water of soy bean sauce industry.  The experiments were conducted using aluminium rod and carbon rod as electrodes, applied in different arrangements of anode A : cathode Al (Al-Al), and Anode Al : cathode C (Al-C). The main aim of the study was to investigate the influene of potential and contact time on turbidity, chemical oxygen demand (COD), biological oxygen demand (BOD), and suspended solid.  The results obtained demonstrated that the elctrode arrangement of Al-C worked better than the Al-Al electrodes., resulted in 58 percent reduction of  turbidity, 70 percent reduction of COD, 69 percent reduction of BOD, and 52 percent reduction of suspended solid.
