Abstract

Biosorption is an alternative method to solve the environmental pollution from industrial waste containing heavy metals. Biosorption of metal ions of Ni(II) and Co(II) by dried leaves biomass of lamun, Thalassia hemprichii has been performed. The adsorption of Ni(II) and Co(II) reached equilibrium after 50 and 20 minutes, respectively. The adsorption effectivity of these metal ions occurred at pH 6. The sorption thermal followed Langmuir isothermal in which the maximum capacity of these metal ions was 33.557 mg/g and 16.949 mg/g, respectively. FT IR analysis showed that the functional group involved in the biosoprtion of metal ions by leaves lamun biomass of T. hemprichii was hydroxyl group (-OH)..
