PENGOLAHAN LIMBAH CAIR SASIRANGAN SECARA FILTASI MELALUI PEMANFAATAN ARANG KAYU ULIN SEBAGAI ADSORBEN

Abstract


The main problem of liquid waste of sasirangan is its high COD, TSS and heavy metal content, due to the synthetic dyes used which is generally a metal complex of azo organic compounds. Therefore the effective and economic research on the treatment of liquid waste of sasirangan is needed. The aim of the research is then to analyze the quality of sasirangan liquid waste which includes COD,TSS, pH, phenol, and Cr content before being treated, and to find out the size of the charcoal of ulin  which will give an optimum result on the liquid waste of sasirangan. The research involved the analysis of COD, TSS, pH, phenol and Cr content of the liquid waste of sasirangan, carbonization of ulin wood, the construction of the filtration waste treatment unit, and analysis the quality of liquid waste of sasirangan after the treatment. The results showed that the maximum absorption of waste charcoal of ulin wood to liquid waste of sasirangan after the treatment by filtration was shown by the charcoal size of 20- 40 mesh. The results of analysis of the liquid waste of sasirangan after the treatment by filtration for the parameters of pH, COD, TSS and phenol content were satisfied to the standard quality of liquid waste for textile industry, except for Cr content.
